Club Lykia World Village in Olu Deniz, Turkey

Turkey is a holiday destination that you either love or you hate and chances are those that hate it have never even been before. Whether it be the Turkish reputation for their football hooliganism or their reputation for being that little bit more pushy then your local Spaniards, holidaymakers are for some reason put off by travelling to Turkey. For those of you that do contact your travel agent and are wooed by the fantastic all inclusive Turkey holidays that costs a mere £50per person (perhaps a slight exaggeration), do you not stop to wonder as to why the holiday is so cheap? “Well it can’t be the hotel because it’s a four star!” If I had a pound for every time I heard that I would be a very rich lady by now. Granted, the Turkish football supporters are renowned for getting rowdy during a game and yes, Turkish locals do appear to be bold as brass when it comes to approaching British tourists, however Turkeys main downfall is the state of its hotels.

For those of you that wish to travel to Turkey to admire the beautiful surroundings, the fantastic weather and the endless stretch of golden sands, make sure you research the hotel you are looking to stay in BEFORE you confirm any booking. The good news is that last year, a staggering 14 hotels in Turkey topped the ‘best 100 hotels’ list as performed by TUI. One hotel that came high on the list is the wonderful five star complex, Club Lykia World Village. Situated in Olu Deniz, this hotel is fantastic for both families and couples alike. Boasting exciting waterslides for the kids and 25 treatment rooms along with an indulgent spa for the grown-ups, there is something for everybody here. The complex is spread over two properties, both of which share the same grounds and facilities. However, they say that one side, The Lykia World Village, represents a more family feel atmosphere that caters more towards the little ones, where as the Lykia World Residence is perfect for that relaxing getaway with a more peaceful ambience about the place.

Other hotels that made it into the top one hundred included the Delphin Deluxe Resort situated in the Antalya region, The Side Star situated in Side and one of the popular Iberotel chain hotels, The Iberotel Sarigerme that is located in the Dalaman area. These kind of hotels are the ones you need to be looking out for when it comes to getting away. As brilliant as a cheap all inclusive holidays can be, when it comes to Turkey you really do need to be wary of an actual four star hotel, and those that don’t even come close to being a three star. Turkey is jam-packed with beautiful properties that line its golden beaches; however the saying ‘you get what you pay for’ couldn’t be more relevant for this charming destination.
