Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands - which also includes Ibiza and Formentera – and is situated just off the southeast Spanish mainland. Holidays to Majorca offer white sandy beaches, a warm blue sea and the perfect destination for anyone looking for some real sunshine only hours away from the UK.
Temperatures can reach beyond 30 degrees in the summer months although the average is around 26. Winters are also mild but the island has rainfall between the months of October and January, so these might not be great months for a holiday to the beach. However, if you’re after casual pursuits such as taking in the local culture, walking or cycling, these months are the best time for holidays to Majorca simply because they avoid the hottest weeks during the summer. Of course, holidays to Majorca are still most popular in the summer months between June and September.
Holidays to Majorca can offer a hugely different experience simply by staying in a different resort. If you’re staying in one designed for young people you can expect great access to the nightlife on the island. These resorts are often situated in the most southern areas and have a huge selection of bars and clubs. Many of the larger clubs on the island mimic their Ibiza counterparts by staying open until dawn. Palma Nova and Magaluf are some of the best known resorts for access to an active, party holiday.
If you’re more into the quiet life or have young children, the northern resorts offer a much more relaxed and quieter experience. There are plenty of activities for both adults and children at places like Palma city.
Many people choose to take a break from the beach to enjoy the countries natural landscape, either by foot or on bike or even hiring a car and slowly driving around the long, coastal roads. Holidays to Majorca offer great sightseeing, beach and nightlife opportunities so whatever you want out of your holiday, you’re likely to find it on the island.
