The Worst Hotel in the World and Proud of it!

That's right, the Hans Brinker hotel in Amsterdam has been basing its marketing campaign for the last ten years on how bad of a hotel it is, and bizarrely enough, it's been working very well for them. The Hans Brinker claims to be one of the worst properties in the world and uses this fact to its advantage. From the absence of a lift, spa or lobby to the lack of even one friendly staff member, the hotel gives the whole 'budget hotel' concept a whole different meaning.

The humorous marketing campaigns the hotel has been using include some of the most hilarious slogans that never fail to put a smile on our faces, maybe due to the sheer honesty of the hotel owner, or perhaps because if you are a guest staying here it is best to smile as opposed to cry. A couple of examples 'similar to hell, but without proper heating,' and 'It can't get any worse, but we'll do our best,' both encapsulate the hotels blasé attitude to self promotion. I raise my hand to them as this method has been so successful for the Hans Brinker that it has been able to pursue this very same theme for years now.

However, for those reading this who have never stayed at this hotel, and more than likely never will now' there is that one traveller who has stayed and wished they had thought twice about it. Having read some reviews on the popular site Tripadvisor, to say that past guests have not been too happy whilst staying here would be an understatement. However if you are simply browsing for some late deals in Amsterdam and need to find somewhere cheap, perhaps you and your friends could consider the Han Brinker hotel, if anything, it could be a laugh.
