Sometimes, people like to get away over Christmas and escape the bad weather and all the stress. But often, that isn’t possible. If you have kids that enjoy the fun of Christmas at home, or elderly relatives, it can be difficult to find an excuse to get away even if you really want to go. One of the best ways to come to a compromise is to take January holidays instead. You can stay at home for Christmas and try to keep the costs low, do something cheap for new years and then spend all the cash you saved on a January Holiday that you’ll never forget.

One great thing about going on holiday at the very start of the year is how much money you’ll save. Prices gradually begin rising from March onwards as the summer begins to start in many foreign countries. The same isn’t often true for December holidays however – because of the amount of people that go, you often find prices have been raised again. So few people decide to take January holidays just after Christmas you’ll find massive reductions in price for just about any type of holiday.

Where can you go in January that’s pleasant to visit? It depends on exactly what you want. It’s very easy to have a beach holiday in the sun even in January, although you do often have to look further afield. January holidays to Egypt should still provide a great deal of sun and many of the resorts are open all year round. Slightly more exotic, Mexico and the Caribbean will also be enjoying huge amounts of sunshine through January and February.

If you’re not after sun though, January holidays can turn typical summer destinations like Turkey into a totally different experience. It’s a great time to go to many places and explore the culture and sights without having to worry about massive crowds and days that are simply too hot to walk around and enjoy yourself.
