The Serin Hotel in Marmaris

alt

Ok, so we all know that unless we pay that little bit more for a really nice hotel, holidays in Turkey are going to be far from luxurious. We tend to travel there for the sheer fact that the flight was cheap, the all inclusive deal was too good to pass up and we know we are going to get a little sun whilst we are there. However what we do expect is that the food in our hotel is at best ‘eatable,’ which brings me to the Seren Hotel in Marmaris. Having not had the pleasure of staying in this property myself, I am unable to give a personal account, however I have spoken with numerous past guests who all have the same thing to say; Stay Away!

The reason for the terrible reviews is down to the unacceptable standards of food and service here. I understand that just because you pay for an all inclusive holiday, it does not mean to say you should use your hotel as an all you can eat buffet and turn up with the attitude of ‘I will get what I paid for.’ However, it also doesn’t mean that you should get less then what you paid for. Previous guests from this hotel have all made a point of mentioning the lack of choice when it comes to meal times, the ridiculously small portions you were given, and all whilst being watched over by the hotel manager ‘Sam’ who ensures you don’t get too big a portion!

I know that when I book an all inclusive holiday, I don’t expect to be eating out many nights. Granted, I like to venture out once or twice and sample the local cuisine; however the unfortunate guests who stayed here were forced to eat out most nights. Who wants to dine in a hotel restaurant that serves meat that looks half cooked, salad that looks as though leftovers from the previous day have been used to flavour it and desserts that appear to be drenched in vinegar. To make matters worse, for those poor souls who had no other option but to eat in the hotel restaurant (many people go all inclusive as they can’t afford to take much spending money) they ended up with a poorly stomach which is the last thing you need whilst abroad. All in all, the Seren Hotel appears to be a property you should watch out for.
